Applicants must be Florida State Certified.
Our hiring assessment consists of a practical test and interview board. Candidates must have an acceptable driving record and past criminal history, pass a drug screen and medical examination; back ground reference checks; and water safety assessment. Candidate must meet all pre-employment requirements. The District will notify each candidate regarding the testing date and other pertinent information.

Minimum Requirements & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, as recognized by the State of Florida, Department of Education
- Be age 18 or older at time of application
- Possess & maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License
- Current State of Florida Firefighter II Certificate of Compliance
- Current State of Florida EMT (or) Paramedic License
- Current CPR Certification
Other Employment Requirements (may be obtained before or after employment begins):
- Probationary Period
– 1 year to successfully complete orientation and probationary performance requirements as directed by the District - Open Water Rescuer within 18 months of employment
– USLA Open Water Rescuer class - District Fire Boat Operator within 3 years of employment
– Coast Guard Operator of Unspecified Passenger Vessels class - Rescue Specialist within 3 years of employment
– Florida USAR Technician classes - Hazardous Materials Technician within 3 years of employment
– Florida Hazardous Materials Technician Certification
Wage and Benefit Information
- $56,000 FF/EMT Base Annual Wage
- $66,000 FF/Medic Base Annual Wage
- Benefits provided
